Aquarium Shop

Aquarium shops are becoming more popular, there is now at least two in each mid sized town. Fish collecting has had a great boost from out of nowhere! The best place that you can get your aquarium accessories and tanks is an aquarium shop. They are cheaper than pet shops that sell items for other animals. When buying the more specific species of fish, aquarium shops is the place to go, pet shops usually only deal in the smaller more basic types of fish whereas aquarium shops specialise in fish. That's why they have a much larger range of fish.

Aquarium shops have all the accessories that you need, you dont need to shop anywhere else. They have everything from filters, heaters, lights, fish and food! They even stock tanks, stands and plants! They are the place to go when first starting out your fish hobby as they are the best for advice on how to get your fish set up on the go! They will let you know all about the bacteria process and what needs to be done to maintain a healthy tank! Aquarium shops also stock things such as chemical solutions to help keep the water pure and clean. They also offer things like water test kits to make sure that your water levels such as PH, ammonia and nitrates stay at the level that they should be!

When visiting an aquarium shop you should have the type of tank that you want in mind, whether it is tropical or saltwater. Or what kind of fish that you would like if you already have a tank set up. Fish shops have a more personal feel to it, the staffs are friendly and are there to give you some ongoing support with your tank, and they help you start your tank and are there for the long haul! Aquarium shops are brilliant for either the beginner or the advanced aquarist! Whatever your level of fish keeping, you will find everything that you need!

20 Gallon Custom Tank

Video quality is poor but u get the idea. Custom built treasure chest from solid cedar. This setup is a 20 gallon high. To the right is a 10 gallon, a 5.5 gallon to the left and in the base of the stand is a 2.5 gallon. They all use LED's in the canopy and the smaller ones have lighted bases so blue lights shine up through the bottom.

Planted 30 Gallon Aquarium with Native Fish

My goal was to design a small aquarium with big tank features. I also wanted an aquarium that had plants and native fish. Tanks should not be hard to maintain as well. Wrap this all together....and you have BRAVO ZULU AQUARIUM SOLUTIONS!!! The Plants are Amazon Swords and Red Tiger Loti. Low light plants that thrive in my CO2 injected/Flourish Excel supplemented aquarium. All I do is trim leaves once a week. The plants do not grow fast and the plecos just do well eating algae off the broad-leafed plants. My fish are active, so I need lots of room for them to swim. I do not want a very densely planted tank. The Native Fish are Orangespotted Sunfish (Lepomis Humilis). I caught them myself when they were just inch long. Aggressive feeders but peaceful dwellers with similar species, these fish will take the vanilla out of any tank. Sorry dudes, I just can't do the barbs, mollies, platys, kribs, shrimps, tetras, and etc....These fish are so hardy and robust. They are developing such a beautiful coloration. These fish are SHOWCASE!!! NO BUST OUT BEHAVIOR, but they do get excited when I approach the aquarium. My algae eating crew is simple. I just use various species of dwarf plecostomus. I have 1 clown pleco, 1 rubber nose pleco, and 2 bristlenose plecos. They do a great job. 355 DIY WET/DRY FILTER is AWESOME. Over 3 gallons of bio-media with 3 pond foam filter inserts just make this a work-horse. It takes 10 minutes to completely clean. Lighting is a dual strip 2X96WATT 12K Super Daylight. I just use one strip light though and I run it for 7 hours. This has eliminated spot algae for the most part. I use the other strip light when I do maintenance (if the other light is not already on.) Fertilizer is so easy now. I just dose dry. I used Rex Grigg's, Greg Watson's, and Chuck's websites to configure dosing. It is simple and easy. I test for P and N once to twice a week. I dose accordingly. I spend no more than an hour a week doing all maintenance now. I just try to keep it as simple and easy as possible. I think this is important for maintaining interest and up-keep for long term aquarium tending. peace out... bitter

These are probably the best types of aquariums to buy. The numbers stand for the size. An aquarium plant can be used for decorative purposes or can be used for helping the fish. They also require a specific PH level; collect fish that need roughly the same PH level or you could end up with a disaster.

Lights are another essential aquarium accessory, as they help certain fish live such as corals and anemones; yes they are living creatures not just plants. All these types of filters are available at your local fish shop, but not really your local pet shop. As with everything else you can get your aquarium built to suit you, so you dont have to purchase one from the shop, although unless you are someone who can build a tank it is going to cost you a pretty penny or two! All aquarium lights are available in the different sizes to suit your tank, as there are lots different sizes of tanks available. They may need to be ordered in or you can purchase them second hand, which I would say is your best option.
